AHAB: A HOCKEY STORY

Brad’s bombshell first novel tells the story of Corporal Will Foley, a young Army paratrooper who loses a foot to amputation following an ill-fated jump. Like his peg-legged forefather, Captain Ahab, Will must fight to regain his old life. He finds safe harbor at the hockey rink and a high-tech prosthetic allows him to skate again. The question is, will it be enough to save him?

Ahab: A Hockey Story is as powerful as a slap shot and intense as a bench-clearing brawl. Told from the heart, the narrative goes beyond gritty hockey adventure by confronting emotional issues head-on. To survive, Will must come to terms with himself, his girlfriend, and his hard-boiled Boston PD father.
The story’s backdrop—including Graf’s iconic water tower, Munich’s Oktoberfest, and ice rinks throughout Bavaria—is thoroughly researched, authentic, and accurate.

This rich new novel grew out of Huestis’ love of hockey, soldiers, and storytelling. Readers who fell for the brutal honesty of Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk will love the unflinching description of Army life, while puck heads who appreciated the food, fun, and excitement of Playing for Pizza will revel in the colorful portrayal of ice hockey, cuisine and culture in Bavaria
